ThaFormula.Com - Peace K-Hill! & also peace to tha Neblina family! Word up…

K-Hill - What's good Lord Ron? On the behalf of me and Neblina I wanna say good looking on the interview…

ThaFormula.Com - No doubt, as we begin with tha verbals, I just want to say your single, "Da Instigator" is a dope joint and it stays in my rotation when I'm spinnin' ya feel me? Give the readers some mental thoughts on the concept of tha song…

K-Hill - Da Instigator? Nothing real special. I'm just taking it back to the basics on this joint. You know, high energy beats mixed with a real braggadocios flow. It was a record made only out of fun.

ThaFormula.Com - What's tha streets sayin' and also, how has the single been doing on college Hip-Hop radio shows and tha internet?

K-Hill - The streets knows that a regular K-Hill record is far deeper than Da Instigator. I'm more of an introspective emcee. As far as college radio and the net, they've shown me nothing but love. At one point, Da Instigator was the #2 record on the Rapattack Lives radio charts. Peace to Davey D, Double J from Trilogy, and Neblina for that.

ThaFormula.Com - Yeah, Davey D's good people, how did you two cross paths?

K-Hill - Funny you should ask that. I haven't personally met him but he cosigned on two occasions actually. One was for this song I did for DJ Chela's mix tape called "Change 4 My People" and the other occasion was through Neblina when they started pushing the 12".

ThaFormula.Com - Yo, inform tha peoples on who K-Hill is…

K-Hill - K-Hill is a beat maker/emcee that's gonna be a major force in the Hip-Hop game real soon. So look for me because I'm coming. Haha.

ThaFormula.Com - Do you produce everything you rhyme on and are you producing for other MC's?

K-Hill - Nah, I don't produce everything I rhyme on I work with other producers also and yes I am producing for other MC's.

ThaFormula.Com - Where are you from and where do you dwell now?

K-Hill - I'm from a small town in North Carolina called Wilson (Wide Awake). I've relocated to the Raleigh/Durham area still in NC.

ThaFormula.Com - NC is blowin' up real big, what's it like to witness your city blowin up like that?

K-Hill - It's real crazy to sit here and see cats get on right before your eyes but it's a blessing to be a part of it.

ThaFormula.Com - What are your overall goals within this Hip-Hop culture?

K-Hill - My goals in this culture is to use Hip-Hop as a catapult to become a respected figure in the world so that I can help my people advance and that is the truth. My other goal is to put the "gutter" back in this music but do it in an intelligent and safe way. It's a lot of heads in the underground trying to block the "hood" out of this music and it's not right because this is where hip-hop came from.

ThaFormula.Com - If not for Hip-Hop culture, what other dreams and schemes do you think you would be involved with?

K-Hill - If I wasn't in Hip-Hop I would've ended up in politics. When I was younger, before I got into this music I was real obsessed with American social studies and black history.

ThaFormula.Com - How did tha name K-Hill come about?

K-Hill - K-Hill is my government name abbreviated…Kevin Hill.

ThaFormula.Com - When did you first know that you wanted to make music?

K-Hill - Doug E. Freshs' album "The Greatest Entertainer" and Kane's first album made me love this music enough to want to do it.

ThaFormula.Com - What MC(s) do you respect and why yo?

K-Hill - LL Cool J for his longevity. No one's done it like him. Kane, Nas, and Jay-Z because they fathered a lot of cats style.

ThaFormula.Com - With you being in tha game, how important do you think it is for upcoming MCs to know tha foundation of this Hip-Hop culture, ya feel me? Do you think they should know about pioneers like The Cold Crush Brothas? The muthafuckin' Treacherous 3 MCs? Coke LaRock and others that paved tha way?

K-Hill - It's real important that up and coming emcees recognize the grind and hard work that these pioneers put in to get us to the point where we are now. Look how far rap has come. Anybody who studies this music will also notice that a lot of music that's out now borrows from a lot of emcees who were out back in the day.

ThaFormula.Com - Dealin' in tha now, what joints are in your CD player on a regular?

K-Hill - In my CD player right now are Nas' "Lost Tapes," Saigon's "Warning Shots," Kanye's "College Dropout," and the Young Buck album.

ThaFormula.Com - When you're in a creative block, what's your process to delete that mind state so that you can become effective again with the pen?

K-Hill - Hearing something real hot, anger, being backed up against the wall makes me come out of a writer's block.

ThaFormula.Com - I feel that, have you done any shows or toured outside of your city?

K-Hill - Yeah, I've definitely been outta state with shows…

ThaFormula.Com - Any favorite places or venues where you rocked tha muthafuckin' house?

K-Hill - So far no spot has really stood out. All spots were pretty dope. Dres the Beatnik's Mic Club spot in ATL was pretty live though.

ThaFormula.Com - When you're performing live besides your own tracks, name me one instrumental track that your DJ cuts up that is bananas in gettin' the crowd hyped up with you rhyming over that instrumental...ya feel me?

K-Hill - Boom instrumental by Royce 5'9. Never fails.

ThaFormula.Com - When are you comin' to Los Angeles yo?

K-Hill - I'll be in LA as soon as some of LA's finest fly me out there. I'm there!

ThaFormula.Com - Do you have a release date for your LP and what can the peoples expect from your LP?

K-Hill - I don't have a release date yet but I do have a project that's about to drop real soon. Ya heard!

ThaFormula.Com - Are their any MC's to be featured on your LP that we should know about?

K-Hill - I have a surprise or two but it haven't went into official effect yet so I don't want to speak on it.

ThaFormula.Com - Word up man, gotta keep em wonderin' and buzzin'. What producers would you like to work with if opportunity presents its-self?

K-Hill - Lord willin' I really want to work with Premier, Dre, Evidence from Dilated, and Jay Dee.

ThaFormula.Com - That's a crazy combination of producers, I thought only Petey Pablo and Lil Jon got spun down there? Haha!

K-Hill - I thought only Ice Cube, Aftermath and E40 only got spun in Cali. Hahaha.

ThaFormula.Com - Word I feel you, you have to diversify. Do you have any plans to go the mix CD route anytime soon to further promote your name, and who's your DJ?

K-Hill - Yeah, I have a little jump off coming up soon. Mixed by my homegirl DJ Chela #1. It's not really a mix tape though. It a collection of original songs that's not gonna make my project.

ThaFormula.Com - That's ill a female DJ, you may be getting the jump on everyone with that yo…

K-Hill - Nah, I think someone else has done this. If not, yeah, I like to congratulate myself for pioneering that.

ThaFormula.Com - I want you to give me one word describing these pioneers of Hip-Hop culture aiiight? DJ Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaatta, and Grandmaster Flash?

K-Hill - Kool Herc: surprised (that the game went this far) Bambaatta: visionary (he seen the whole Hip-Hop scene jumping off years before it actually did.) Flash: pioneer

ThaFormula.Com - Do you have a website or page in regards to people want to know of any releases, tour dates and such pertaining to K-Hill?

K-Hill - You find all of my info at www.kick-a-verse.com. Be sure to check out www.neblinarecords.com as well.

ThaFormula.Com - Yo K-Hill...It was cool buildin' with you and much continued success to you, that's wassup. Is there anything else you want to speak on? Any shout outs?

K-Hill - Crazy shout out to GOD, the formula.com staff, Neblina Records, all of my supporters and my family. Last but not least be on the lookout for "Da Worst of K-Hill" pt 1: The Diesel Go-Off.
