Q & A W/ omarion: speaks on new album...21
Interview Conducted By: Kyron Stringer
March '07

thaFormula.com - Why was "21" chosen to be the new title of your album?

Omarion - 'Cause 21 to me is a milestone in everyone's life. Everyone that is under 21 wants to be 21, everyone that is over 21 remembers what it was like to be 21. It's just a perfect number. You know it's a Blackjack, etc. so you know it's a lot of things.

thaFormula.com - How has turning 21 changed you?

Omarion - It changed me in a way where I'm more mature and I feel like I have more responsibility.

thaFormula.com - Have you decided what is going to be your next single off your album?

Omarion - No, not yet. It's between "Midnight" and "Beg for It." It's like a toss up right now.

thaFormula.com - What's your favorite song on the album?

Omarion - My favorite song is "Just That Sexy," yeah I like that one.

thaFormula.com - What were some of your most memorable moments recording the new album?

Omarion - Just being in the studio. For me the memorable moments would be like a producer like Timbaland coming through, Pharell, you know just being able to create.

thaFormula.com - How do you feel about the current state of R&B?

Omarion - I think it's great. I feel that there are a lot of talented young people out there right now that's really doing their thing and I think the current state is dope. R&B to me is really coming back, especially like with somebody like a Ne-Yo because he writes and he does his own records. Then to you know Usher is about to come back, Usher is getting ready for his album right now.

thaFormula.com - Who are your past influences?

Omarion - Past influences are definitely Michael Jackson, James brown, and Sammy Davis Jr.

thaFormula.com - Who are your favorite Hip-Hop artists?

Omarion - 2Pac, Biggie, and 50 Cent. I like Juelz Santana and Cassidy too.

thaFormula.com - What made you pursue singing?

Omarion - Being inspired by people like Michael Jackson and feeling like "man this is something that I can do."

thaFormula.com - Do you ever listen to yourself when in your car?

Omarion - Sometimes, but its only when I'm like thinking of concepts for like videos, or if I'm like thinking of like what the next single is gonna be like. That's the only time I really listen to my music, but I don't ever just ride and be like bumping Omarion. I think that's pretty corny, like if somebody pulled up on me at the light and I was singing.

thaFormula.com - Many artists out there have their own clothing lines, do you plan on putting out anything like that soon?

Omarion - No not anytime soon, nah. I actually wanna do something different. You know the clothing line thing is what a lot of artists and a lot of people do. You know it's a lucrative business, but I wanna do some video games. I wanna have my own video game, not personally me like an Omarion video game, but like a video game like any other video game. I like creating so you know I want my own videogame.

thaFormula.com - Now moving on to your acting career, I know you just finished shooting "Somebody Help Me," when should your fans expect that in theatres?

Omarion - That's gonna be coming out sometime this year. I think the date for it right now is May supposedly, so we will see how that plays out. But yeah that's gonna be a nice movie, its gonna be a cool little year.

thaFormula.com - Do you have any other movies in progress?

Omarion - Yeah I actually have another movie coming out called "Reaggaeton" which Jennifer Lopez is producing and that should be real tight to.

thaFormula.com - Are you the main character in that movie?

Omarion - Yes, I'm the main character in that movie. I actually play a young fella by the name of "Rob" who has ambitions of becoming a rap star and I'm actually Puerto Rican and Black. So we shot most of the movie in Puerto Rico, it should be pretty good.
